I laughed softly. "But never trying is giving up, only early."

I chuckled. "Alright, what do you propose?" I asked with a gay smile.

I glanced around without moving my head, my mouth pursed a little. "I'm not sure... I've tried enough times with him that he knows most of my tricks," I said, flashing a grin. "Most of them."

"Have you tried going into a clothing store, trying on gowns until he gets bored, and then going out the back when he's not paying attention?" I asked with a mischievous smile.

I laughed. "I've done it enough to bore him, but I've never tried sneaking off after that," I said, a mischievous glint lighting my eye. "Have you ever tried it with yours?"

"Not with this one," I replied with a grin. "And it means that you can try on gowns to your heart's content, and then get away after."

"Lets try it, then," I said, making sure my hair was between my guard and my grin as I looked down the street, eager to find a shoppe that dumped into an alley near a crossroads. "How about that one?" I asked after a moment. "On the left, with the purple sign."

I looked where she indicated, seeing the gowns in the windows and smiling. "That looks perfect. Let's go."

I smiled as we headed in that direction, murmuring with a light laugh as we entered the building. "I actually like that pink dress in the window. I might have to come back and buy it sometime."

"You could always leave directions with the shopkeeper," I said with a little giggle as the door closed behind us with a jingle of bells. "Oh, look at that green one. I love the colour."

"Me too," I said, grinning at her as I let go of her arm to walk over to it. "And this one," I said, pointing to a soft blue that would do very well for a stroll in a garden. I was aware of our guards taking places along the walls, though where there were clean lines to the doors, the windows, and both Lillianne and I. Damn men.

"That's very pretty," I said, looking over. But I lingered on the green one. "Do you think this skirt is too daring?" I asked her. Coretta had always been known for dressing in fashion.

"Not at all," I said, as I joined her, fingering the fabric. "If it were a more flimsy material, mayhap, but this one would accentuate your chest and show your fabulously long legs." I looked at Lillianne, studying her body before looking back at the dress, trying to picture her in it."You should try that one on."

"How would you know I have long legs? You've never seen them," I said with a laugh. The storekeep came over and I asked for the gown to be brought back to the fitting room.

"I'm not blind," I said, flashing her a teasing grin as I moved over to look at the pink-striped dress I'd admired from outside. "I like this... But maybe in a different fabric." Reaching out, I touched the bodice, musing quietly over it.

"I like the bodice, the neckline especially, but I think you're right. The pink is too... girlish," I said, wandering over to where she stood and eyeing the gown in question.

I chuckled softly. "Girlish can be very good indeed if there is a reason you need it for." I flashed her a grin that had more than a hint of impishness in it. "Such as swaying some to your... Line of thinking."

"Have you been breaking hearts again?" I asked teasingly after a light laugh for her words.

"Of course not," I answered, flashing her a pretty, sweet smile over a rack of clothing. "What ever would give you such an idea?"

"I'm not blind your highness. I've seen how men fall over themselves to get near you, and its not because you're the dauphine," I said with a chuckle.

Not above flattery from girls I liked, I still had to shake my head at her for her ending words. "You're right," I said, smiling at her before beginning to browse the dresses again. "It's because of my money."
I pretended to look around the store again, my gaze sweeping across the guards before coming back to her. "I think we've sufficiently bored them," I said, soft enough that they wouldn't hear. "Shall we take a few dresses to the back, and then make our escape?" We would; I was determined of it.

Balls... I had meant it as a compliment, not tinged by status or power, but she had twisted it.
"Yes, let's try these on," I said with a smile, just loud enough for our men to hear, and followed her lead to the back.

I giggled as we walked towards the back, careless and light, just as I would if we hadn't had ulterior motives. "Come into a dressing room with me, Lillianne, and help me with my buttons. They're so difficult on this dress."
Reaching, I twined my fingers with hers before turning, my gaze turning icy cool at not only my guard, but hers as well. "Remain here, please; we won't need you to.. supervise.. us changing clothes. Unless you would like to see what would happen then?"
My Casselines face tightened, fury storming in his eyes, but he gave a short nod before turning to glare out across the room. I didn't know what Lilliannes thought, but if it were anything like mine, leaving would be easier than entering had been.

I could tell my guard was amused by Coretta's shot at the usually stoic Casseline, and followed the other man's lead in a more relaxed manner, finding a chair that was discretely tucked by a mannequin. I squeezed her hand lightly but kept the smile off my face as we headed back to the fitting room.
