Keaira and I swept into the Patron like two Eglantines with nothing to do- in other words, garnering some attention, but not the sort which had people approaching us immediately. The place was full, so I made my way to a table so I could sit and have a drink whilst looking for those I knew.

I tried so hard to keep my expression straight after glancing at Bayard's face as we swept into the Generous Patron. He had put on his flair for attention, and I while I managed to stop myself from bursting out into laughter, I couldn't stop the smile. I didn't mind though. He was fun, and doubtless to cause some more, something I needed with something akin to desperation.
I threw caution to the wind as the server took our orders, and got something a bit stronger than fruit juice.

With my usual ale I sat down and almost put my feet up, but then decided to not be quite that relaxed yet. "So, have you been here before?" I asked her curiously as her drink arrived.

I shook my head, feeling the buzz of a full tavern around me and loving it. I took a gulp of ale before answering. "I'm afraid not. But it opened fairly recently yes?"

I had been sitting at the bar, occupying myself in a mix of flirting and people watching, when the two - adepts I would wager - entered. If they were not adepts, most likely Eglantine with that flair - then they had to be part of a troupe of performers.
Actually, the girl looked familiar, but I couldn't place from where. Sipping my mead I watched them without staring, trying to place the girl as I did.

Noticing someone watching us from the bar, a handsome man with an expression of curiousness and obviously trying to place Keaira I smiled and with a single nod in that direction, said, "All eyes are on you, sweets."

I followed his nod, seeing a handsome man. I smiled at him before turning back to Bayard. "The day seems brighter already." I told him with a wink.

When she turned around and looked at me, I placed her. She was the singer from the L'Envers fete. I was half right then, at least one of the pair was an Eglantine adept.
Calling over a serving girl, I paid for a round of whatever the pair was drinking and had it sent to them.

"good taste you have," I told her with a grin. "But then, I knew that when I saw you looking me over earlier."
Two fresh mugs were set down and I looked at her and raised a brow- she was the one who should go over and make her thanks known.

"Me look you over? Never." I managed an affronted look. "And there's no need for that eyebrow, I'm going."
Taking the fresh mug, I made my way over to the waiting gentleman. "That was very generous of you my lord." I thanked him with another smile.

"It was my pleasure," I said, gesturing to the empty seat beside me. "I saw you perform once and this is just a minor token of my apperception."

I settle gracefully in the chair he indicated, extremely pleased at his words. "Thank you my lord. If I might ask for another gift, if your generosity could stretch that far, as to your name?"

"My generosity knows few bounds," I told her with a rakish smile. "Duc Alain de Mauvais." I bowed slightly in my chair. "And you?"

Oh my. I had managed to find lofty company quickly. "Keaira nó Eglantine, Your Grace."

"Just Alain, please. Titles and honorifics make me cringe at the thought of onrushing duties to tend to," I said, laughing softly. "It is a pleasure to meet you Keaira."

I laughed softly with him at the image, more than happy to relax a bit. "Would you like to join us at our table? My friend brought me here to cheer me up, and I might feel guilty later for leaving him so quickly."

"How guilty?" I asked, smiling charmingly and leaning closer to her. "Too guilty to live with?"

My smile grew sensuous. "Only guilty enough to apologize in passing and never think of again." I told him.

"That's a guilt I am well familiar with," I replied, letting my hand move over until it lightly brushed hers. "I would hate to cause a rift between friends though. Perhaps I should send him another drink with a message that you will see him another time?"

My eyes met his as his fingers brushed over my hand, my smile growing slightly at his words. "I think that would soothe any ruffled feathers." I said speculatively.

"Good," I said, holding her gaze for a moment before straightening up and calling over the same serving girl.
I told her to give Keaira's friend the finest of whatever he was drinking that the inn had to offer, gave her the message to pass along, and then gave her enough coins to not only pay for the drink but tip her well.
"There," I said, turning back to Keaira. "Feathers all smoothed."

I had seen too many of my fellow Eglantines dressed up as parrots not to find the metaphor very amusing. "You show quite a knack for diplomacy." I offered, eyes twinkling.

"I doubtless do not have to remind you that I am an adept." I answered with a teasing smile. "I also compose and teach. I must admit, diplomacy has never been a strong point. I'm apt to say the wrong things at the wrong times."

"You're doing just fine so far with me," I said, leaning in close to her again. She was lovely, and there was a slight mysterious air about her I found intriguing. "Do you enjoy being an adept?"

"That's a dangerous question to ask me right now." I told him, voice lowering just slightly as he leaned in, almost unconsciously trying to draw him in further. "I'm a bit burnt out right now."

"Danger doesn't frighten me," I told her, leaning in closer. My fingers brushed along her arm very lightly. "What has you feeling burnt out?"

"I can't seem to catch a break is all. My services haven't been in very high demand, and it's frustrating." I answered him honestly, though my skin prickled as his fingers moved over it. He was an incredible flirt, and I found myself not minding it one bit.

"I'm sure that will change," I said honestly. "The nation has been in such an uproar that everything is off-kilter. I heard you sing, you are far too good to wait in the wings for long."
Smiling, I let my fingers continue their soft caress on her arm.

"Have you ever been so close to something that would change your life, and because of circumstances, be unable to take that final step forward?" I asked, unwillingly to take a drink and dislodge his fingers.
