I sighed softly, slightly leaning into her caress. I had not been touched like that since when my mother held me as a child. My brethren were lacking in this area, and the Servants of Naamah--which my mother was, formerly-- had turned touching into an art form.
I coughed to clear my throat and started to walk along the halls. "Here we see a bunch of dour old portraits," I remarked, sweeping my free arm in an exaggerated gesture to encompass the portraits close to us. "They would fit right in with the ones of the former Prefects..." I didn't know how anyone could stand it, sitting for hours and hours, and, Elua! Sometimes their expressions were horrid, as if they had spent the past hour listening to a dull conversation while simulataneously injesting copius amounts of garlic.
I stood watching one, trying to imitate his facial expression in hopes that it would make her laugh, all the while reeling from the unfamiliar caresses that she gave me.

I chuckled at him comment, stifling the full throated laugh at his comment. I thought it would perhaps be best to not be so flagrant about those Houses I didn't belong to. For a surety I would have laughed if we'd been in Aragonia and understood the jest just fine. But out of respect I only let a half of my amusement show and grinned up at Emile. My fingers caressed at his arm a bit more, enjoying the strength there and wishing there was more I could touch. "You seem very unlike what I would have imagined." I shook my head. I knew that I had already said something similar, but it bared repeating.

I laughed at her comment. "Did you think that I would be a dour old man who didn't know how to work his--" I caught myself before I said "phallus", aware that saying such a word in her presence might offend her. I smiled. "No, I am not like my brethren in manner, despite what everyone else seems to think. Even my fellow D'Angelines seem to think that we are all cut from the same cloth." I shook my head, smiling sadly. "Well, I suppose it is their loss..."

I chuckled again, I was really enjoying Emile's company, chaste or no. My hand continued to caress his upper arm gently, marveling in its strength, and decided to do so till he bade me otherwise. "I think it is." I said softly. "The Queen is lucky to have you in her service. I would hate to be cooped up with some dour old stick in the mud."

I smiled and modestly inclined my head. "Well, I don't like to boast about my good fortune, the gods may not smile on me the next time opportunity knocks at my door if I boast overmuch..."

Wild wild thoughts went through me at that moment and a hidden alcove gave me an idea. I shoved him unexpectantly into it and before he could protest I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him hard. It was only a moment before I pulled back and ran my hands through my hair then smoothed out my gown. "Very nice." I said smiling. "You should boast."

I must admit, with the way she was touching me, I should have expected what happened next, but I did not. As soon as her lips touched mine my hands flew up to push her away, but the song of my blood in my ears was urging me forward. I let out the smallest of gasps when she broke away from me and began smoothing out her dress.
When I spoke, my voice was even, calm, but my cheeks had the telltale flush. "My lady," I said crisply. "Might I suggest that you not attempt such a thing in the near future?" I placed a hand on my dagger, I would not draw a weapon on such a woman, but its presence was reassuring.

I pursed my lips trying not to betray the wicked grin on my face as I felt the heat of a blush colour my cheeks. "Forgive me." I said looking down at my feet, my hands clasped as I turned to him. "You're just so..." I trailed off and turned away. "I can't imagine never feeling the warm caress of another all my life."

I snarled, it was a discourteous sound, but I was vexed. "You waste such honeyed words on one such as I," I said. "My lady, perhaps you should leave before I say something crass..." I suddenly wanted nothing more than to be at Her Majesty's side--at least there I would be protected from such women. I did not wish to insult such a nobel guest, but such an act was...innapropriate, to say the least.

I bit my lip, my smile fading and I suddenly remembered my place in the world. "Of course." I said softly. "Please forgive my actions, they were...inexcusable." My gaze dropped. "I'm afraid I don't have good rein on my emotions you see. I was once like you. Chaste, itching to be freed, and now that I have been I feel so much more alive." I felt ashamed at what I had done. I was only playing, but the cost seemed so much high now. "I had to know." I said under my breath and referring to the kiss.

Well, now I didn't know what to think--one moment she was playing the vixen--the next...it was all so confusing. I didn't know whether she was deceiving me or being truthful, and the blood of Kushiel which ran in my veins did not tell me either way.
Well, she didn't have to know that...
"Know this," I said softly, a touch of menace in my voice. "In my veins runs the blood of the punisher of souls--every falsehood, every evil deed you've ever done cannot hide from his gaze..." I came closer to her, until I was sure she could feel my breath on her face. "You would be wise to remember that..." Maybe it was because I was vexed at being indoors, but my behaviour seemed alien, even to me. I did not enjoy tormenting others so, and I suddenly felt ashamed that I had acted like this in front of her. "If you will excuse me," I said, giving her a small bow before backing away so that there were a few feet between us.

He drew close and his skin was radiating heat, I gasped a little, my breathing quickening a little as he spoke and I knew of which he spoke. I had read of it, after my encounter with Pieter I had read all about the line of Kushiel, of Valerian House, of Mandrake House. They thrilled me, the knowledge of them existing alone was like a spark to tinder and I was keen on seeking out the truth of it, one way or another. I wanted to visit the Night Court, and had plans to visit Orchis and Jasmine. But there was a certain draw to the other houses, these Casa de Dolor. Houses of Pain. I curtsied deeply. "As you desire, my lord." I whispered looking up at him through my lashes.

I forced myself to calm down. Perhaps I was being a little harsh on her, even though I felt betrayed. "Just back away...." I whispered, my feet hastening to obey my command. Still, the scent of her still hung in the air. I could still taste her.
I wondered how long it would take to wash away her scent....
"By your leave, my lady." I said, giving her another half bow. As angry as I was, she was still a princesa, and I owed her a measure of respect. "May the plague pass you by."

"Good day Emile the Cassiline, I will pray for your chasty and that its doesn't weigh heavy on you." I gave a half smile, the comment in both jest and seriousness. I curtsied deeply and turned away from him walking down the hall in the opposite direction.

I watched her as she walked away, waiting until she was out of my site before turning.
I held up a hand to wipe my forehead. It appeared my body still wished to dwell on her actions, traitorous flesh! I tried to put it out of my mind--it was one kiss, after all, but it seemed to float to the surface every time I attempted to think of something else.
So it was that I stormed back to my chambers, slamming the door with such a sound that the whole Palace probably heard. I didn't care. At that moment, I wanted nothing more than to be free of the Palace's walls.
"Gods," I breathed as I fell backwards onto the bed, my armor digging into my back. "Please banish this plague soon..."
