"You are no help at all," I said, scowling at her teasingly.
"Now I think I shall have to find something truly atrocious and dance with you all night so everyone can see you with me," I told her, laughing.

"I doubt you'll end up in anything too terrible- after all, you will be wearing it, and I don't think you want to be looked at all night. Well, not in that matter, anyway," I teased lightly. "Besides, you seem the type to improve even the most hideous clothing simply by putting it on."

"Now who's being charming?" I said, grinning. "I'm sure I'll end up figuring something out…. Or perhaps I'll just go naked."

"Well, that certainly would attract enough attention," I said with a charming smile. "But weren't you concerned about the chill in the air and freezing certain portions of your anatomy? Somehow, I don't think walking about unclothed would help that problem unless you found somewhere very warm to hide the entire time."

"Or some way to keep myself warm… perhaps someone to keep myself warm with," I said, winking.
I sighed, chuckling softly.
"I'm sure I will figure out something, even if I just have to put myself at the mercy of some clothier," I told her.

Smiling and winking, I replied, "I have faith in your good taste- besides, clothiers aren't really so bad. You even have the luxury of going to Eglantine if you wanted, which most of the other adepts except the Eglantines themselves can't say- it all gets very competitive in some subtle sense. Really, you shouldn't let anything take the chance of being frozen- I'm sure frostbite must be most painful."

"True, I'm not used to having Eglantine available," I said. "I have never really been fond of cold, so I will avoid frostbite at all costs."
"I hope I will recognize you, so I can have at least one dance with you."

"I would like that," I said as I inclined my head and grinned. "THough I can't promise you will be able to tell me apart from any of the other Dahlias, or even if you will be able to tell which costume theme is ours. There have been times before where people have mistaken other houses for Dahlia, even Mandrake once. I'm sure that person was very suprised." My eyes flashed a little in mirth.

"Huh, that must have been… interesting," I said, laughing. "I will keep that in mind and make sure not to assume a person if from a certain House. Thank you for the warning."

"Certainly," I said with a grin. "After all, I wouldn't want some Mandrake to get you completely cowed before you come to dance with me. I do hear they are rather bewitching when they want to be."

"Bewitching or not, I don't see myself as cowable," I told her, winking.
"When do you want to come back for your next lesson?" I asked her.

Tapping a finger against my lips I thought, then rested my arm on that hand. "Long enough after his to let my body adjust but soon enough that I don't forget what I've learned so far- how long from now do you say that would be? After all, you're the one with the fixed schedule and things that can't be put off," I said with a grin. "I will be ready whenever you say you'd be willing to teach me."

I thought over my schedule and all the things I was still having to tend to. It had honestly been a struggle just to keep this morning free so I could be with Alli.
"Let's say four days from now, same time?" I asked.

Smiling, I nodded in understanding. "That sounds about perfect, thank you. By that time I should have decided whether or not I'll be able to take one of the kittens as well, and then I can begin the difficult task of deciding which one. I think that may be the most difficult part."

"You could always take two," I said, grinning. "That way you really wouldn't have to worry about them getting lonely."
I chuckled at the image of Dahlia overrun with mischievous kittens.

Laughing, I said, "If two, why not three, or five? I think Sabrie would skin me and have my head mounted as a warning to the other adepts if I took more than one, and we only get to keep pets as long as they prove not to be destructive. I could keep one of the mischief-makers from clawing everything to shreds, but any more and my room would look like a tattered mess."

I laughed, trying to imagine Allisande in any sort of trouble and finding it difficult. I wondered why she spent time with me, I hardly seemed the sort of person she would choose to associate with - I was as close to undignified as you could get without crossing the line.
It didn't really matter, but it was curious.
"I hate to bring the aforementioned busy schedule up, but I have a rather demonish banker that should be arriving soon. I don't mind you staying, but I am not sure you want to expose yourself to such calculated ducat pinching," I told her, chuckling.

Smiling and laughing, I said, "I'd only get in the way. I was never much good at figures or such; it's probably a good thing I didn't have a Bryony temperment or I would have been laughed out of the house once they saw how bad I was at such things." And the fact I couldn't read or write a contract, I thought cynically.
Standing I went over to his chair and stood before him, laying a gentle kiss on his cheek. "Thank you again, and a thousand more times besides- I really am having fun."

"You are very welcome," I said softly, smiling up at her. "I am glad you are enjoying yourself."
I stood up carefully so as not to bump into her and then slipped my arm through hers.
"I look forward to watching you discover the amazing feeling that comes when you first ride at a full run," I told her, smiling still.

Smiling, I said, "I can only imagine the rush one gets from such an experience; in fact, I can't imagine anyone not letting the horse run whenever it wants as long as there is no one else around to be trampled."

"That, and the fact that if you do something all the time, it can tend to lose it's wonder," I said, opening the door.
I noticed a carriage coming to a stop out at the end of the drive.
"The demon arrives," I said, rolling my eyes. I leaned in and placed a lingering kiss on her cheek. "Be well until next time we meet."

Nodding, I placed a matching kiss on his cheek and then pulled back and smiled. "Until then," I said as I turned and walked down the front steps, deciding to stop and say goodbye to Lenore on my way out. After all, I thought she had done very well, and she deserved some praise too. Besides, keeping myself on her good side was probably for the best.

I smiled as I watched Alli make a detour to the stables.
My smile melted away and became a look of resignation as Herman scuttled up the walk and straight into the study.
With a sigh I closed the door and vowed to try and pay attention.
