As the carriage turned onto the street, I held my arms open and Yann scurried into my lap. He snuggled against me and looked out the window.
I looked over at Sieg and smiled joyfully.
"I adore him," I mouthed, leaning my head against Yann's.

I smiled back, mouthing, "and I adore you for it."
I looked at Yann, who was very obviously in love with Raegan. It was almost amusing, to see his little blond head nestle into Rae's lithe form, they almost looked like two children.
He piped up, and said to Rae, "What did you just say, Rigan?"

"I said I adore you," I answered Yann, smiling and looking down into his big eyes. "You are absolutely wonderful." My words caused him to giggle and bury his face against me again, though his little arms went around me and hugged me hard.
I wrapped my arms around him and hugged him back. Looking over at Sieg, I said, "If you moved closer you could get in on the hugs as well."

I grinned, changing seats, and wrapped my arms around Rae, caressing her hair. "You are wonderful, and I love you," I told her. My hand tenderly patted Yann's back, and I added, teasing, "you too, you charmer."
He grinned, smiling at me mischievously from his position. I winked, he winked back, and I said, "What do you think of Rae?" He blushed, grinning, and said, "She is a beautiful princess. You should marry her."
That in turn summoned a soft smile, and I whispered, "Maybe I will, if she lets me."

My heart did that soaring flipping thing that happened so often when Siegfried was around. I didn't know though if he was just playing or if he meant it and I tried not to focus too much on the possibility that he did mean it and how wonderful that would be. There were so many things we would have to work out if he was serious.
Ah gods, but I loved him so much, and Yann too. I was already happier than I ever imagined.
My eyes met Sieg's for a moment, letting him see the hope and happiness his words inspired.
"He has to convince us to stay first," I whispered to Yann, keeping up the playful atmosphere and smiling wide.

My heart skipped. We would have to talk, it seemed, eventually - for the time being, there seemed to be a quiet understanding, and it was enough for me.
"Well, let's start with the park and the lunch, and we'll see then what tricks I can come up with," I said, grinning, sparing a wink for Yann. That sent him into a giggling fit, and he curled up more into Rae - that alone made me smile more widely, and I kissed her brow softly, a gentle gesture of love and secret promise.

I leaned into Sieg for a moment, reveling in the warmth of him. the carriage began to slow though and Yann perked his head up.
"We're here!" he exclaimed happily, bouncing slightly in my lap.
I looked outside and indeed we had arrived at the park.
"Time to start that convincing," I told Sieg playfully, smiling at him.

I smiled back, chuckling. "But of course," I said, opening the door myself and hopping out. I held my arms up, and Yann lept in my arms, excited as ever to go out. He whispered a little something in my ear, and I nodded, offering my hand to Rae as she got out of the carriage.

Taking Siegfried's hand, I stepped out of the carriage. Once on the ground I playfully tickled Yann's side lightly.
"And what was that you just whispered?" I asked, teasing him since he'd asked me a like question before.

Yann giggled as he was tickled, and smiling brightly at Rae, he piped, "I want up." He was reaching, and I grinned, propping him on my shoulders. "Is that up enough, my little scout?"
He nodded, smiling, surveying the horizon with fanciful eyes. I smiled at Rae, my hand on his leg to make sure he was safe. "Care to take the other one?" I said, holding out my hand.

"Happily," I said, twining my fingers with Sieg's as I took his hand. I smiled up at Yann and then turned to look at the park.
"Where to first?"

Yann's hand pointed, and I smiled, "The little wood?" I asked, just to confirm, and he smiled, agreeing enthusiastically. I set us in that direction, and grinning at Rae, I asked, "Have you seen the little wood before?"

"No," I answered, looking in the direction Yann had pointed. "I've never been to this park actually, it's all new to me."

"Then you shall see," I replied, giving her hand a small squeeze, still marveling at how small it was in my own paw.
"We like the little wood, a great deal, don't we?" I said, to Yann's attention, and he giggled. "Yes, and Princess Rae will like it too," he replied in his childish voice.

"I'm sure I will," I said, smiling up at Sieg and then further up at Yann. "Not only because I like woods, but because you like it."

We walked a little, and as the little wood, which was really a large thicket of a dozen trees came in sight, Yann's enthusiasm grew, and it made him move atop my shoulders in ways that weren't exactly safe. Grinning, I set him down, and he automatically took Rae's hand, biding her to follow. "Let me show you!", he insisted.
I smiled and pressing my lips to her brow, I said, "I won't be jealous if the two of you get ahead."

I smiled up at Siegfried, then looked at Yann.
"Alright, love, show me," I told him. With that, he hurried off with me in tow, both of us laughing.
We ran through the spring grass and were soon in the dappled light of the little wood. It was absolutely lovely.
Yann led me over to one tree and began telling me about a bird's nest that had been there last year as we waited for his father to catch up.

I watched them run off together, and could not help but stay immobile an instant, admiring the scene. It was blissful, truly.
I only waited a short instant, before I ran down as well, and as my legs are incredibly long, it left me behind them with only a few strides.
I heard Yann's bird nest story, and smiled. It was a cute story, really.
"It had 3 eggs," he said, "and the mommy had slept on them for a long time. Father said I could watch, but I couldn't touch."
I nodded at him, smiling, "That's right, do you know why?"

I did know why, but I played along.
"No, why?" I asked, smiling.

Yann pressed his face to Rae's skirts, hiding. I smiled, and scooted to his level. "Now you're just playing shy, Charmer. I know you know..."
He peered out, and smiled, "Because if the mummy smells my scent, she may not come back for the babies," he said mischievously.
I looked at Rae, and said, "Well, are we in agreement, Love?"

"We are," I said, smiling at Siegfried. I reached out and caressed his hair and cheek, my heart feeling like it was going to burst with joy.
Yann grabbed my other hand, tugging. "Come look at the spring, I wanna show you," he insisted.
Laughing, I let him lead me through the trees to the little babbling stream. "Oh, it's lovely," I exclaimed, making him smile wide. "You think your father would let us take our shoes off and dip our toes in it?"
We both looked back at Sieg, smiling hopefully.

I gave a playful bow, and said, "As Princess Rae wishes."
Grinning, I joined them, and took off my own shoes dipping my feet in the water, and let out a small hiss. "Scalding cold, truely. Only a Skaldi warrior would dare," I added, teasingly taunting.
It was a bit cold, but not overly so. I did love to tease my son, though, and as expected, he took the taunt unabashedly, putting his hand in the spring, and saying, "It's hot, Father, no trouble at all."
That, in turn, made me laugh wildly.

Laughing, I sat on the grass and motioned Yann to me, helping him take of his shoes. With a mighty warrior's cry, he joined his father in the stream as I removed my shoes.
Gathering up my skirts in one hand, I stepped into the stream. The water was refreshingly cool.
"I think your father is too delicate if he finds this water so cold," I told Yann, grinning. He giggled and splashed around to stand next to me, taking my free hand in his.

"Yes, Rae, too delicate indeed," I replied, smiling, very amused. "Mayhap I shall be ill, and you and our mighty mercenary here will have to take me home on a stretcher," I jested.
Yann gave me a look, grinning, and I gave him a look back, feigning a fall, though I caught myself on a hand before I did, much to his delight. Rae's legs were exposed, and as I gathered myself up, I shot her an appreciative look, finding they were rather pleasant to look at.
I looked at the little man, and grinning, said, "Well, what now, my little Skaldi, tell me?"

I noticed the look Sieg spared my legs, and my smile grew further.
"Chase me!" cried Yann, releasing my hand and dashing into the wood.
Laughing, I told Sieg, "You catch him, I'll keep an eye on our shoes."

Oh, but he was fast, my little demon ! I spared a wink at Rae, and I ran, making my strides shorter than they normally would be, for I would otherwise have caught him in a split moment.
I grinned, laughing myself, and found him hiding behind a tree. "Well, well, where is that fierce warrior, I wonder?" I said, loud enough for him to hear, though my back was to the tree.
A little giggle was my reply and I turned stalking, lifting him as he giggled some more, and I tickled him some, making him laugh more wildly.

The sounds of their laughter was the most beautiful music I had ever heard, and I let it fill me as I went to sit on the grass next to our pile of shoes. I kept thinking I was as happy as I could possibly be, only to be proven wrong when I was happier the next moment.
Plucking some grass and clover, I began weaving a circlet for Yann as I watched them play.

He was laughing, and giggling, and I took him in my arms, lifting him up. A tree had some blossoms, and he looked at me in askance, to which I nodded silently, with a wink, and a confidential whisper "Only this time, Yann, because it's her," and he nodded affirmatively, grinning like it was his natal.
Soon enough, he begged to be set down, and so I did, and he broke a small run, calling out, "Rae, Rae..."

As I was tying off the circlet, I looked up at Yann calling my name. He was running too me, but came to the sort of quick halt only children can mange as he reached me.
"For you," he said, holding out some blossoms.
"Oh Yann, they're lovely," I said, smiling wide. He blushed and ducked his head, even though I caught a flash of a grin. Carefully I took the blossoms and set them in the cradle of my skirt.
"And look what I made for you, my charming prince," I said, showing him the circlet before I settled it on his head. "Thank you for the flowers." I kissed his cheek.
With a giggle, he dashed back towards Siegfried calling out, "Look what she made me!"

"Oh Raegan," I said, smiling wide. "Now, say thank you, you vagrant !" I said, pushing him with a little tap on the bottom.
He strutted over, proudly wearing the wreath, and bowed, holding it to his head still, and said, very formall, "Many thanks, fair princess."
That made me both smile and grin. I adored this - oh gods - this was the stuff of bliss.
