"Thank you, my lord," I said with a smile. "Honesty it may be, but it is very rarely appreciated. One of the faults of my birth is being lacking in the ability to lie, or even the inclination to- even when it may be better suited to the situation."

"Something I admire." I said smiling. "Honesty seems to be lacking in a few these days, its nice to know some one has it."

Laughing lightly, I replied, "In situations like this it is a good thing to be honest- however, in others, it is not the best trait to have. Those who appreciate honesty, such as yourself, are rare, but that makes it all the nicer to see it when it makes itself evident."

I nodded with a kind smile. "Agreed." I said as I continued to look around.
"Where are we?" I asked looking for signs.

Closing my eyes I blocked out the images and sounds around me, calling up my mental map where everything was labelled with sounds rather than those thrice-damned letters that flipped and spun before my vision. Finally, I found where I was in this image and said the name of the street. Opeining my eyes, I smiled at him and said, "Only a block and half to go, my lord."

I chuckled watching her and nodded. "Good, any stores you think are worth while for me to look at?" I asked as we continued down our path.

Thinking, I tapped a finger on my lips. "Well, there's a rather nice cafe over to the left," I said, gesturing, "And a little further up on your right is a good fabric shop. You're also not terribly far from Anezka Collections, an import shop that I personally find rather lovely."
With a look over at him I asked, "Is there anything else in particular you needed to find for future reference, my lord?"

I shook my head. "What do they have at Anezka Collections?" I asked making a note of it in my head.

"I've seen imports from around the world- Caerdicca Unitas, Alba, Illyria, and even some things from Ch'n," I said with a intelligent smile. "I have only been in a few times, but she seems to get almost constant deliveries and her stock is always changing. Mirsada, the owner, is very good at what she does."

I nodded. "I'll have to go by and see what they have." I said smiling. "Ch'n was my favourite of all my travels." It wasn't some huge statment but I was enjoying our conversation and Allisande seemed so pleasent.

Smiling and happy that someone was actually listening to my advice I replied, "I've heard lovely things about the place and find the objects that make it here intriguing, but I doubt I'll ever be able to go there myself. I find that acceptable, though- most things make it to the City eventually anyway and I can see them then."

Chuckling I smiled. "It took my almost a full year of travel to make it to Ch'n, and once I was there...well lets just say that they are wary of white skinned people."

Looking down for a moment I thought, brow wrinkled, before I looked back up with a curious expression. "Why is that? How did you manage to get by there, then?"

I shrugged. "Foot, boat, caravan, horse. The Ch'n have masters in martial arts that would make a Cassiline's mouth drop." I said with a wry smile. "So few people make it to Ch'n, and they're usually darker skinned they we; to see such a pale skinned person...its not a common sight." I thought for a moment.

Nodding, I filed away the information. "It sounds even more interesting than the things I have learned by looking at the pieces or art that make it here. Thank you for telling me some of it," I said with a warm smile. "I've always liked hearing stories."

"I have plenty of those." I said softly.

My smile became more sympathetic. "I would imagine you do- though not all sad, I hope. If you ever feel like telling them, I would be more than willing to lend an ear. I think everyone needs to talk sometimes, and I'm very good at keeping secrets."
Honestly, I felt a great deal of sympathy for this man, driven from his home by awful memories and returning only to find everything changed. It was one of the reasons I never left the City- if I came back and everything had moved I'd be completely lost until I learned everything over again. It seemed like too much of an idea for me to bear.

I smiled. "Thank you Allisande, perhaps one day I'll take you up on that offer." I couldn't help but let my mind wander to my parents, their happy faces, the memories of a happy child.

"I would be honored, my lord," I said with a nod. "Whenever you are ready to speak, I will be willing to listen if you would like me to."
Looking around, I remembered where we were and came to a stop, pointing at a door. "That is the shop you seek, my lord."

I smiled recognizing the store. "Thank you Allisande," I said taking her hand and kissing the back of it softly.

Dropping into a respectful curtsey, I kept my eyes on his the entire time, just as I'd been trained. "Thank you, my lord- it has been wonderful to have the chance to speak with you."

I nodded in agreement. "Perhaps I'll have some better stories when next we meet." I smiled politely but it felt more wry then polite.

Nodding, I gracefully stood. "I would like that, my lord," I said politely, hearing the wry tone in his voice and knowing it was probably time for me to make a respectful exit. "I hope the shop is just as you remembered it and that you find what you're looking for." With another respectful nod I turned and began to walk away, taking in the City around me.

I smiled and watched her leave, once at a fair distance I entered the store to find it the same but a little older.
