With Robert in tow, I walked the streets of Mont Nuit briskly, looking for the perfect red fabric for curtains. I wanted a new carpet too, but that could wait for now.

I found myself cooped up in the town house, my thoughts swaying to my direction in life. I seemed to just be drifting and I felt I needed to get out and about. At least I could go shopping, perhaps some new clothing or some art work.

As I looked about, I spotted a vendor whose booth was laden with fabrics of all colors and styles. I tugged Robert's sleeve. "This way," I said, nodding in the direction of the booth.
We approached the booth and I began to examine the different reds arrayed on the table. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a lovely woman, with jet black hair and deep deep blue eyes. Like Dominic... I thought vaguely. She looked so familiar, I was sure I had seen her someplace before. But I hadn't met anyone since my arrival. It was puzzling.

I looked to my side and glanced side long at the plain looking girl who seemed to be staring at me. I smiled politely, it was most likely that she recognized me as either a Shahrizai, or still yet royal blood.

We made eye contact, and I immediately remembered her from a etching in a book I had seen once. "Your highness," I said respectfully, curtseying deeply.

I smiled.
"Good day." I said inclining my head then turned back to a item I was looking at.

What on earth does one say to a princess? It's cold, isn't it? My, you look just like a man who showed me a pastry shop and kissed my wrist three times. How is your family? Can I meet the queen? Will you be my friend?
The weather seemed like a safe enough topic, and perhaps I could work up to asking her if she knew or was related to Dominic. "It's a lovely day, isn't it?" I said, by way of pleasent conversation as I examined a heavy velvet cloth. "Cold, but clear."

I smiled and nodded softly.
"Quite." I replied to her. "Thats a lovely fabric." I comment politely.

"Do you think so?" I asked. "It's for my cousin's library. I'm organizing and redecorating it as a gift to him, and I'm looking for some curtains."

I nodded.
"I like it very much." I said smiling pleasently at the young girl. "Though I don't know your cousin's taste so I couldn't say if he'll like it."

"I hope he will, but he said he's giving me free rein, so I hope my judgement is sound enough to make very important interior decorating judgements." I laughed. "He's very good natured though, not picky at all."

I gave her a smile. "Would you like to help me?" I asked. "I am only just arrived and I don't know where to find a good bargain or where the highest quality wares are."

I wasn't very interested in joining her but I decided I had nothing better.
"Alright." I said somewhat reluctantly but smiled anyway.

She seemed very subdued, or disinterested, and I suddenly felt shy again. All of a sudden, I clapped my hands to my mouth. "I'm sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Avive de Mauvais."

I smiled softly.
"Greetings Lady de Mauvais, I'm Princess Phreya de la Courcel de Montreve." I inclined my head toward her.

I blushed at the term lady. "Please," I said, "Call me Avive, I'm not the Lady of my House yet." Nobody had ever called me Lady de Mauvais before, I suppose it would take some getting used to. But not yet.

"By ettiquette I'm supposed to call you lady based on my standing and yours." I said with a bit of a teasing smile.

"If you say so, princess," I said, laughing. "It makes my job easier, imagine having to say Princess Phreya de la Courcel de Montreve every time I addressed you. Your highness," I added quickly.

I smiled nodding.
"What colour scheme are you using?" I asked looking back to the cloth.

"The wood in the library is very dark," I said, "and the wallpaper is in burgundy and forest green and gold. I thought I would get dark red curtains, and a rug in some print with red and green in it. So, dark reds, greens, browns and gold are my colors of choice."

I nodded thinking.
"That sounds lovely, the colours would be very nice together if the green was in small portions."

"Yes, I thought that the new carpet would hold any green that I wished to add to the room," I added in agreement, "and keep the upholstered furniture and the curtains more to the red and gold and brown scheme." I waved to a lovely silk, which was a less deep crimson than the curtains, with a dark yellow and light brown feathery pattern all over it. "This is a similar fabric to the one I'm looking for to reupholster the big chair."

I nodded in agreement, then turned to the vendor and named my selections. "I would like fifteen yards of this velvet, eight of this silk, and another eight of this cherry red, to be delivered to the Mauvais Residence."
"Three hundred ducats, m'lady," said the vendor.
I rummaged in my purse and handed him a small pouch with his fee. "Thank you," I said.
I turned back to the Princess. "Do you know of a Mirsada Anezka?" I asked. "I heard she specialized in imported goods."

Glancing at the fabric she was examining, I commented, "That blue there would make a lovely gown for you."
"I was going to stop by her shop and see if she had a chess table, and any other manner of small side tables."

I smiled politely.
"Perhaps another time." I paying the vendor for the roll of fabric I had choosen. A guard appeard from to my left, a hired man, and took the roll.
"But thank you. You should come by for tea some after noon, and bring your cousin the Duc de Mauvais."
