Silence reigned and for a moment I was afraid I'd said too much. I walked along next to him, but as he sat at the bench I remained standing, tucked in next to the fountain. I looked at him and smiled softly, the light dimmer here than on the street, but strong enough to make out his features. He looked relaxed and happy... much different than he had half an hour ago.
"Do you enjoy traveling?" I asked quietly, trying to fill the void of silence. My hand went out and trailed through the water as I spoke, gaze turning to watch the glistening waves part over my fingers.

I thought about Myth's question. I had traveled out of necessity, without preparation or companions when I left my home. I don't think that such could be considered traveling.
I heard the soft noise of her hand entering the water, and my eyes followed her fingers through the fountain. She seemed uneasy because I had gone quiet, so I spoke in response to her question.
"Of the traveling that I have done," I began softly so as not to disturb the night, "It was enjoyable. Yet I fear I have missed an essential part of it; the camaraderie and fellowship of the journey. Even Elua needed company, for he would have been lonely without them. I think that if I ever traveled again, it would be with someone that I love, with whom the moments would always be sweet and with whom I would be able to be with forever and never crave anything more."
I took a pause to breathe, looking at her face. She was marvelous in all the ways a woman could be, and I think, ever so slightly, that I had fallen in love with her.

I had turned to look at him when he began speaking, my mind drinking in his words as the ground did after a long-needed rain. But his gaze after caught me more than his words had, and I watched him for a long moment, my eyes taking in his face, the expression, the way he held himself and the way he spoke. For a moment all I wanted was to kneel infront of him and have him kiss me, his arms around me like they had been in the Temple. I could still feel them, if I thought about it, and it brought a warm rush of emotion that made me finally break the gaze.
"Your heart seems very deep," I commented softly, abandoning the water and walking nearer to him, idly drying my hand on my skirts. "To travel with someone you love sounds like a dream to me, but then I've only been out of the City a few times, and even then not far."
I took a seat next to him, ignoring the urge to kneel before him as I did so. "But I do hope you're able to someday, Joras, when you find that someone you can spend your life with and never want for more."

I watched enchanted as she stared at me, feeling her probe my expressions, my words, my very consciousness for meaning. I watched her face turn colorful as she thought, and I couldn't even begin to guess at what. As I watched, she averted her gaze and approached me, coming closer to sit next to me. She was holding something back, she wanted to do something but couldn't bring herself to do it.
I listened to her speak, her lovely voice entrancing me. The words she spoke were ones of wishful thinking, kind and optimistic. She said I was a deep person, that she shared the same dream. "Myth," I said softly, placing my hand on her shoulder as I had done earlier. "I... Hardly know you, but I already... I think I am in love with you."

His admission made my jaw drop - it was the very last thing I had expected him to say. Stranger than hearing he had killed a man, or that he had found peace, or any number of things that might have come from his lips. Elua! Even hearing him say the sky was green and gems would begin raining down upon us would have been less surprising.
As soon as I realized I was gaping I clicked my teeth shut and blushed furiously, my mouth working and saying things without my even having realized I was thinking them. "How can you know? You've not even kissed me."

She was surprised, and I could not blame her. It had been a very eventful night for her, after all. First her play, then her whole ordeal with me, and our trip to the temple. I wanted to comfort her, but I had to continue with my explanation.
"I love my life, but have I kissed that?" I asked rhetorically, "Even you should know that a kiss isn't what makes a person love the other. No, I found myself through you, and part of myself was you, Myth. That is why I am in love with you."

Ah! That was it, then. I listened to him with an avid ear, and as I did the confusion cleared away. He loved me, but not in love with me in the fashion that he'd ant to marry me, or have children with me. He was grateful. I could understand that, even if I didn't think he had any reason to be.
"I'm glad I could help you, truly, Joras," I replied, looking up at him with only a faint trace of shyness. A bright smile covered my mouth, and I slipped my hand over to cover his, squeezing it lightly. "I think I understand now."

My smile remained on my face the whole time as I watched her begin to understand. I listened patiently to her speak, nodding each time. She truly did comprehend what I meant, even though it was very far-fetched. I felt as she placed her hand on mine, and saw hey lovely eyes gazing into mine, and felt only a pure love in return.
On a spur, I softly grasped the hand that was covering mine, raising it to my lips in a chivalrous salute to her kindness. I placed a single kiss on the back of her hand; softly, gently.

I took the kiss as I would one from one of my brothers. Laughing softly, I pulled my hand back and gave him a grin, clasping my hands in my lap and looking around. "I'm very glad spring is here," I commented. "It's so much nicer than the winter, with flowers and fountians, everyone outside more."

"Terre D'Ange does have such nice springs, it puts most other places to shame." I answered her statement. I replied with one of my own, "It startles me, the variety of flowers that grow here. It is beautiful to simply walk around and view the window boxes and private gardens people have."
I thought for a while, about what wonders spring always held. The woods always sprung to life in this season, and it was a beautiful thing to watch it all seemingly work together for each of their own goods.

I smiled softly, looking around at the darkened ground about us. "I can't say I know anything else to compare, but it is beautiful, and there is a wide variety."
I fiddled a little with my skirts, my gaze going back up to his. "Do you have a favorite flower in particular, Joras?"

I thought about flowers, about which ones I liked and disliked. It was not a topic I broached much, being one of the last things on my mind in my hectic life. "Of all the flowers," I said, partly thinking aloud, "I particularly like gentians."
I returned with the same question; "Which is your favorite?"

"Violets," I replied without hesitation, my smile growing. "They're called angela cocchi," I replied brightly. "Not very well known unfortunately... I've only seen them in the hands of the street vendors. But they're pretty, mostly white or light pink, and some of the petals have stripes."

"Violets are beautiful flowers," I agreed. "You have good taste."
I took a deep breath of the clean air, allowing it to cleanse me once more. The simple things, I think, are the most pleasurable things. Just sitting here, relaxing, and talking to a new friend was something I could do forever. I looked up, and for the first time that night, noticed the stars in the sky, with Mother Moon conducting their unheard symphony. It was beautiful, like everything in this country. It made one wonder why people lived elsewhere.
As I watched the skies, stars began to fall from the skies. "Myth," I murmured, pointing, "look at the skies."

I looked up as instructed, watching the stars above. For a long moment I saw nothing but the usual twinkling of the stars, and I thought that mayhap that was what he was happy to see. It was beautiful, without a doubt.
After that moment though I caught sight of one that streaked across the sky, growing brighter before dimming out. "Elua," I breathed softly, smiling up at the heavens.
