When she stood, I unthinkingly stood as well and bursted out, "I'm sorry, I forgot to mention that in this package is the ointment and some dressing for tonight and tomorrow morning. You will only need to apply this ointment lightly, and so after the second application you will have some left over for emergencies. Do use it lightly and only if your healing salve seems to fail."
Frowning, I added "I would prefer that you come back if any of your wounds - this one or any other, for that matter, looks or feels strange. One is never prudent enough."
I walked to the door and opened it for her. Bowing a little stifly, I added "Joelle will assist you with the administrative matters. No not hesitate to call on me, about this matter or another one." I smiled at her, hoping she would hold out her hand to me.

His words came in a bit of a rush and it took me a couple heartbeats to sort them out, but once I did I understood his instructions perfectly.
Almost to the door, I stopped and shifted the package to my left arm so that I offer him my right hand to shake as I smiled and said, "I promise to come back should I need anything else. You have been very kind."

I took her hand. It was smooth, soft, warm. Her hand felt very small in mine. I shook it strongly enough for her to feel my grip, gently enough not to hurt her.
I smiled and replied, "I have been only doing my duty as a physician. I look forward to seeing you again." Here or elsewhere.

"I look forward to seeing you too," I replied, letting my hand linger in his a little bit longer than necessary before taking it back. "Good day."
Passing by him, I went through the door and to the desk where Joelle sat. She told me the fee and I handed over the coins before heading out to my carriage and home.

When Mademoiselle Brice had left, I consulted Deleuze's list of appointments and found no patient had been scheduled for the upcoming hour.
I was restless and needed to get things done, so I instructed Joelle that I would be gone a short while and that any incoming patient would find me back within the hour.
Fifty minutes later, I returned, ready for my next consultation and rather satisfied with my newly struck deal.
Twenty minutes had passed, and Deleuze's patiend had not showed up.... Looking at the time, I found I was hungry and made out again, instructing Joelle to send for me at the White hart should my return be required.
