After I'd met Leala at her store, and sated my curiosity of her wares, I resumed my small walk on Mont-Nuit, intent of examining the shops I'd never had a chance to.
It so happened, that neighboring the foreign foods shop where the scents had made me curious beyond words, I noticed a familiar name. "Salon Kachine," I read aloud the sign. The name was known to me, and I remembered the very nice, very handsome man who had taught me to dance at the coronation.
He had planted in me the idea of getting a tatoo of my own, and so I entered, wanting to greet him, at least, but also to see what indeed he could draw with the scent of the freedom I relished so.
On me, the breeches were like a second skin, my blade hanging loosely at my side, as usual, and I had a smile that said everything about the level of comfort I felt.
I pushed the door, hearing the soft cling of a bell.

I was sitting in the front room, adding color to a sketch of the dolphin fountain in Elua's park when someone entered.
Looking up, I smiled with pleasure.
"Well hello," I said, my smile widening at the marked change in Julie's appearance since I'd seen her last. "Come for more dance lessons?"

I laughed softly, "It's good to see you too Darien," I replied with a wide smile. "How have you been? It's only been a few days, but I am happy to see you," I said agreeably.
In his environment, he seemed to be completely at ease, even more so than he was at the Fete. My eyes darted to the walls, taking stock of the place. It was a very calm environment, a place designed to soothe, and inspire trust. I liked it, finding that it suited Darien perfectly.

"I've been very well, thank you." I added shadows to the sketch, almost finished now. "And you? how have you been?"

"Busy, but good," I replied. "Thanks to your lessons, I danced after you left me, and none of my two partners complained. How about you? Did you catch the person you were so eager to meet?"
As I spoke, I walked around looking at his art, the designs displayed on the walls. He had a sure hand, and the curves he created seemed alive. I liked it - I was making up my mind on it already.

"Yes, I did," I said, smiling as thoughts of the night with Geraldine swirled through my mind.
I set my finished sketch down and stood, dusting my hands off on my pants. "Would you like me to show you around?"

"Good," I replied, closing the matter. "I would like that, very much," I added with a smile. I liked this man - he was so calm, so soothing. Maybe... maybe he would have advice on my little matter. I kept the thought in mind, to bring up a little bit later, if it was opportune.

"Well, this is my front room," I told her, grinning as I motioned to the room around us.
I pulled aside the curtain that led to the back and motioned for her to follow me.
"And here is where I work."

I stepped in the room in his steps, my hands kept to myself. "This is where you mark the adepts - this is where they lie," I said, pointing to the high bed. My curious eyes took stock of the room, and then settled on him again, twinkling with interest and curiosity, my smile still wide. "I am beyond curious, would you show me your instruments, tell me how they work?"

"I can show you some things, but not everything," I said, smiling. "Trade secrets and all."
I went to the counter and pulled out a stylus and taper. "These are the main instruments. I tip the stylus in the ink and then use the taper to embed it in the skin," I explained, demonstrating as I talked.

I smiled, nodding at his explanation, teasing him a little, "ooooh, trade secrets," and I winked, convinced that such secrets were indeed better protected.
Cocking my head to the side, I grinned, and asked, "Tell me, at the fete, you said you could draw something for me, a tatoo. I'd like to see what you have in mind."

"Do you still want the wind?" I asked, setting the instruments down and reaching for a piece of foolscap. "And I will need to know where you would want it. the curves of your body would impact the design."

"Yes, the wind, something flighty but burning," I told him mischievously. "And somewhere on the back would be nice," I added with a grin. "What do you think?"

"Upper back or lower back?" I asked as I picked up a piece of charcoal and began to sketch.

I thought an instant, reflecting on the option. "Upper back, on this side," I told him, indicating my left shoulder blade. He was already drawing something, and so I smiled gently, and asked, "do you mind if I peek?"

"If you peek then you ruin the fun of me revealing my genius to you in big ta da," I teased, casting her a grin even as my hand kept moving.
I set down the black and began to fill in colors.

"Then I won't," I replied, chuckling at his tease. I let my eyes roam his studious form instead.
He was so good-looking, it was just wrong not to appreciate his handsomeness. "Tell me, if I ask for advice, will you give it?"

"Yes, but it comes with the warning that my advice can be skewed by lack of experience in a lot of areas and a rather unique look on life," I told her, smiling. I reached for a darker red, almost done. "If you still want to ask, go right ahead."

"Considering the person asking for the advice, your wisdom is as vast as the ocean," I told him with a small tease.
I cocked my head to the side, and asked, "Darien, do you have any siblings?"

"I have a twin sister," I answered, glancing over at Julie. Now my interest was peaked.

Twins. He was lucky, I guessed. I gave him a smile, thanking him for sharing that.
"I have 3 brothers, though the one I am with here, in the city, is my main concern. He is the oldest," I told him. "About your age, I think."

"And he's the one you need advice about?" I asked.
I was finished sketching and turned to face her.

I nodded, a little shyly. "If it puts you ill at ease, I won't ask. But for some reason, it feels like you may be the right person for it."
I didn't dare peek, but my eyes glanced at the notepad in growing curiosity.

"No, not at all. I just wanted to make sure I had all the people straight in my mind before I dispensed my advice," I replied, smiling.
I noticed her glance at the foolscap.
"Would you like to see before or after you ask for the advice?"

I flushed a little, caught in my curiosity. "I'm dying to see your work," I admitted.

With a grin, I stepped aside and motioned for her to come closer to look at the design.
The wind wasn't something one could just draw, and where I might have leaned towards blues and greys, her request for heat called for red. The design was simple at first glance, a knot of tangled reds and golds with sprays upward, a sun perhaps if one did not look long enough. But the colors extended up from but one side of the knot, curling around each other as they unwound in the unseen wind that blew across the design. By the end, they were all separated, and the end of each dissolving away. The entire design was no longer than my forefinger, no wider than two fingers together.
"Be honest," I said, smiling. "the point of doing it on here first is to make sure you get what you want. We can scrap it or change anything."
I had learned long, long ago never to assume someone would want the first thing that came out of my head and it truly didn't bother me a bit. I wanted a client to be happy.

I looked at the drawing is awe. Talent. That man had talent. Oh, I really really loved it, and I gulped a little, nodding.
"Oh, Darien, it's magnificent," I told him with sparkling eyes.
"Will you do it for me?"

"Of course," I said, pleased at her reaction.
My smile became a teasing grin. "Now you see why I like the ta da moment."

I grinned teasingly, "Yes, I do, indeed. But it's all deserved."
I wasn't sure what else was to be done, so I looked at up at him. "So, what's the next step?"

"First you ask my advice on whatever matter is worrying you so, otherwise you'll be tense when we start the process," I told her, smiling.
