"Orchis adepts are usually good for fun, it is rather amazing how they find the joy in everything," I said, smiling. I was going to miss the Night Court and all the people there. "Was the lucky adept anyone I might know?"

"I don't know," I said in mock exasperation. "There are so many of you adepts that it's impossible for everyone to know everyone else, isn't it?" Knowing she was looking for a name, I put on a sly grin and added, "Besides, you can't have any more frivolous fun anyway," and stuck out my tongue at her.

I grinned and rolled my eyes. "It is difficult to know all the adepts of the other Houses, but not impossible. And if he happened to be around my age it is likely I at least know him," I said, and then stopped and thought about those adepts at Orchis that fit the bill. "In fact, I can probably narrow it down to two. But that's alright, you keep your secrets, I'll just start keeping mine as well." Then I stuck out my tongue at her.

Sticking out my lower lip, I started it quivering slightly, my eyes wide. "But..I never SAID I wasn't going to tell you, only that I didn't think you'd know him. Don't remove me from vicariously living in your soon to be wedded bliss! I'll babysit, I promise!"

"Careful what you offer, Elliot has hopes of six or seven children," I told her, chuckling.

"Oh, I think I can handle it," I said sweetly. "After all, I only have to remember that I may have them for a few hours, but you have them for your whole life. Besides, both of you are so good-natured that I'm sure your children will all be like little ducklings, all in a row and following Mommy in an orderly pattern."

I laughed uproariously. "You need to spend more time around us, especially Elliot, before you assume the manners of our offspring," I said, wiping the tears the laughter had brought to my eyes. "I love him with all my heart, and he is wonderful, but he has a mischievous streak a mile wide."

"I'm glad- I won't be starting your children from scratch with the practical jokes then," I said with a laugh of my own. "One of them may even have the talent to be truly great and give you the grey hair you will need to look like a real mom."

"You are an evil woman who has just made the leap from 'fun aunt Jess' to the crazy aunt we hide the children from," I told her, sticking out my tongue again.

"If you want a child to do something, be sure to forbid it," I reminded her with a wink. "I know it worked for my sisters and I."

"I don't know that forbidding them to eat their vegetables and clean their rooms would really work," I said, grinning.

"All you can do is try," I said with a smile. "That's what I hear raising children is about. Personally, I don't have the patience for that, so I'll leave having and raising children to you, and the teaching of bad habits will be my responsibility. Do you think any of your children will end up going on to be an adept?"

"I really don't know. I am not going to influence or dissuade them in any life choices, I think it will happen if it's meant to," I said, sighing softly.
"It all seems like a bit of a fairy tale still, I keep waiting to realize this is happening to someone else and not me."

"It's happening to you because there's no one who deserves it more," I said firmly, wanting her to feel her own happiness as a real thing. "Everything will be perfect, I'm sure of it. It's the only way that would work."

"It's all just so fast, I know that once I have time to let it sink it then it will be real," I told her, smiling.

"That's understandable," I said with a nod. "And I'm sure it'll sink in for sure once you're living there, or else you'll need a very in-depth delusion to cope with it."

"I'll just have to cope, I've never been good with delusions," I answered, chuckling. "I just hope there's a little quiet time between moving in with him and planning the wedding. Otherwise I may need to start drinking heavily to calm my nerves."

"If you need someone to talk to, or somewhere to escape and have a glass of wine, feel free to stop by any time you wish. Even if I'm not home, I will be soon and you're always welcome," I said with a smile and a light hug. I knew it was important that she have as much support as she needed, because it really could get uncomfortable sometimes. I didn't want my friend to be hurt.

"Thank you," I told her, returning her hug with gratitude. "I am positive there will come a point when I need to take you up on that."
I sighed deeply.
"I hate to have to leave so soon, I do need to go arrange for finishing my marque though," I told her, truly regretting having to leave.

"That's alright, it is kind of important," I said with understanding. "I would offer to go with you, but I have read that it's a very private thing, and you've only got a little left, so I would hate to ruin you getting the last of it done. Are you doing all of it at once? I know it will hurt, but is it too terrible?"

"It hurts, but it's a good pain. Not the way a Valerian says a good pain, but a pain that signifies accomplishment. It should be too bad, I really am almost done," I said.
I stood up, brushing my skirts straight.
"I hope I see you again very soon, so I can fill you in on all the new juicy details."

"That would be very nice," I sid with a smile as I stood to see her out. "And start thinking of a wedding gift you want- I'm not very good at choosing presents, as they almost always end up having a story or joke behind them and I'm sure Elliot would be very confused, as would the guests."

Unable to resist, I hugged her tightly. "I know I will see you soon, either with happy news or because I am seeking refuge," I said, laughing softly. "Thank you for being such a great sister."

"The same goes for you- I hope you only have good stories to tell," I said as I hugged her back. "You are an excellent sister yourself, just for being so willing to tell me your stories and look through books with me. Tell Elliot I said hello and take care of yourself."

"I will, to both things," I told her, smiling.
I turned to head out and then stopped suddenly, turning back to her.
"Was it Jules or Keegan?" I asked, grinning impishly.

Laughing, I said, "Keegan- and how dare you not be as easily distracted as I am! Oh well, I'm sure I'll find some fault of yours. By the way, what type of wine do you like, so I can always have a bottle set aside? Then again, if you're really desperate to get drunk, I'm sure there's a bottle of brandy or scotch about."

"Pear brandy would be perfect," I told her, laughing and turning back to head out. "And of the too Keegan is definitely the better choice, Jules isn't nearly as good in bed… or so I hear."

"Right..so you hear," I teased her with a grin. "Pear brandy, that should be easy enough to remember. Now go on and finish your marque, before your fiance gets antsy!"

Closing the door behind Caraf I grinned to myself and then went to the kitchen for something sweet to snack on and a light glass of wine with it. After all, just because she didn't feel like celebrating didn't mean I couldn't celebrate for her. With a silent toast I wished her good times and much merriness and willed that it come true.
