[this letter is rather more hastily penned than its predecessors]
Dearest Monkey
I have vanquished my mother, at least temporarily, with a descent into shameful adolescent melodrama. She has retired to her rooms where legions of devoted servants are plying her with smelling salts and dosing her with laudanum. I reign triumphant over the whole ground floor. Do come and see me. Although I should, by all that is right and just, be languishing with the kraken of all hangovers I am a-fire with verve and enthusiasm. I am thinking of decorating. I have no taste whatsoever. You must come and aid me before I turn my gothic monstrosity of a townhouse into some other kind of monstrosity. And your book is marvellous, m’lady escrivante , marvellous. I read it this morning. Come soon or I cannot be answerable for the aesthetic consequences.
Ever your, Cendrillon
