“In fact,” I paused, grinning, “Didn’t promise our selves a visit to a certain inn… with a certain orchard?”
Yann looked up at me, a little confused, though I saw a gleam of hope in his eye. In turn, I looked at Rae, and smiled back widely.

In the rush of happiness and activity today, I had completely forgotten.
"Why yes we did," I said, grinning.

"Still in our plans, then?" I asked warmly.
Yann was quiet, but eagerly following the exchange.

"Oh yes," I told them both. "I was just having such a wonderful time today, I completely forgot about our plans."

Yann let out a joyful cry, and I laughed in turn. “That’s wonderful to hear Rae. I rather like that little piece of heaven, really.”
The little one was positively radiating mirth – he liked the place, there were children his age, and vast spaces to play. It would be a good afternoon.

My gaze lingered on Yann, his joy was captivating. Then I looked up and met Siegfried's eyes. I was so filled with love and happiness I didn't know how to describe it.
I reached out and touched Sieg's hand. "I rather like this little piece of heaven," I told him softly.

I captured her hand in my own gently, though if she wanted to remove her hand, she could do so without a struggle. I would never try to cage her, I decided in that instant – I loved her too much for it.
“Heaven loves you too,” I replied softly, my voice tender and gentle.

Before I could reply, there was a polite cough and I looked up to see our server standing there with our food.
Smiling, I squeezed Sieg's hand then drew mine back out of the way. The server cleared our opening snacks and set out our main order before leaving again.
"Well, I went first last time, so who's first this time?" I asked, smiling.

“I am!” said Yann, but I stopped him gently. “Not with your hands, when it comes to fish, Yann. Remember last time you tried?” He nodded, retracting his little hand contritely. He looked at Rae, and said, “It was hot.”
I served him his food, and turned to Raegan with a happy smile, “May I serve you, Love?”

"Yes, thank you," I said, moving my plate within his reach and smiling. In my mind, I was already creating a menu of nothing but finger foods that could be taken on a picnic to the woods next time we went.

I served Rae a portion of salmon that I believed was reasonable, and asked, “Will that do?” I was always worried it would not be enough, or too much. For her, it needed to be perfect.

"That's perfect," I answered with a smile.
I breathed deep of the wonderful scent as I brought my plate back and set it down. "This does smell delicious."

I served both Yann and I, though before I did, I pressed his napkin to his collar, and sat him on my lap, that he may be high enough. For convenience’s sake, we would share the same plate – we were used to it, he and I, and so I flaked a portion of salmon for him, then cut the potato to smaller bits.
As I did this, I said “Yes, I’m always amazed at the quality of the food here. It seems the chef here is truly amazing – a real culinary genius, for he never misses his target, I gather.”
Yann took a bite of fish, and grinned, “It’s yummy father,” and I jested “Even the most demanding critics agree.”

Smiling, I took a bite of my own salmon. It was exquisite and I made a low, happy sound as it melted on my tongue.
"Oh, this is amazing," I said, then took another bite. "You both have wonderful taste."

“Why thank you, Princess Rae,” said Yann, his mouth half-full. It was so adorable, I couldn’t help but chuckle, but I still observed my parenting duties, and gave him a look of warning that was well heeded. He masticated with application, swallowed, and said it again. “Thank you, Princess Rae.”
I smiled at her, grinning, and took a bite of salmon myself. Gods… it was wonderful.

"You are quite welcome, my Little Prince," I told Yann, smiling at him. He giggled and then took another bite, chewing carefully.
I took in the sight of the both of them, my heart swelling so much it ached with joy. The thought that I could have this for ever almost brought tears to my eyes. I blinked and then focused on my own plate, eating more salmon.

“I am not,” he emphasized, “Little.” He said it so comically, I had to laugh and that in turn made him laugh as well. My laughter subsided, and I looked at Rae, wondering if she would be indeed so inclined as she said, to be a mother. She certainly had a gift of it. Wise, yet fanciful, giving, nurturing, and prone to joy… yes, she would be a fine mother indeed, if such was her desire.
I took a bite, relishing the flaking sensation of the tasty fish, and grinned. “Sylvie will be devastated, when she hears we were here, you know?” I said conversationally.

I laughed along with Yann and Siegfried, loving the sound of our combined laughter.
"Will she?" I asked. "Perhaps we could take her something home to help smooth things out. Does she have a favorite dessert?"

I grinned. “She does – I think she is secretly jealous of the chef’s talent,” I said with a wide smile. “although Sylvie is gifted in the kitchen… but it isn’t anything a little..” I paused, and Yann piped, “CHOCOLATE MOUSSE!”, which made me chuckle at his enthusiasm.
“Yes, nothing a serving of chocolate mousse won’t smooth over,” I concluded, eyes caressing Rae’s pretty face. “That was a great idea,” I added gently.

I smiled and blushed softly under Siegfried's praise.
"Thank you," I replied, pleased beyond words that he thought so.

She was so adorable when she blushed; I grinned, and felt the powerful urge to eat her. She made me melt inside, when her cheeks turned crimson. She was just too adorable.
“Are you having dessert yourself?” I asked, though I was starting to have thoughts that involved her being the dessert. I was keenly aware of my son’s presence though, and so I didn’t quite voice it. I had patience.

"I don't know, if I could," I said, chuckling and setting down my fork. I placed my hand over my stomach. "I may burst if I eat any more."
I looked up and caught Sieg's gaze and my insides trembled with the look I saw there. Except for a slight flush that added to my previous blush, I kept my reaction in check but my blood raced with the desire I had seen in his eyes.

“I want a chocolate mousse,” Yann piped up. He’d been quiet, musing on whatever it is little ones do, and it was a welcome diversion, because I was starting to have very improper thoughts.
“Hmmm….” I teased, “have we been good enough to have dessert, Princess Rae?” I asked with a wide grin, not oblivious to the innuendo in my jest.

"Yes, I think you both deserve whatever dessert you'd like," I replied, smiling and flashing Siegfried a look that tossed his little innuendo back to him.

“Yay!” cried Yann, visibly very excited. The waitress came by in that instant, and I ordered three of those chocolate mousses, and gave Rae a guilty grin. “I think I will need all my energy…” I said by way of explanation.

Before she left, I caught the waitress's attention.
"And one more chocolate mousse boxed to go home," I said. She smiled and went to fill our order.
"I think I should have one of the ones you ordered," I said to Sieg. "I will likely need all the energy I can get as well." I gave him a knowing and intimate smile, then turned my attention to Yann.
I laughed as I saw how quickly Yann was trying to make room for his bowl of mousse. I helped him make a space and wiped the remnants of fish from his hands.

It was amazing how well she and I understood each other. I smiled wide, and joined Rae in her mirth over Yann’s antics. That child was really a joy, really, really a joy.
Again, her simple gestures of tender attention for the little one warmed my heart. I wanted her to join us, really I did, for she was the missing link to an otherwise perfect situation – that I may have had such doubts in the past, in truth, filled me with shame.
“You won’t regret that choice,” I told her with a secretive grin.

I blushed again, this time with a good dose of desire mixed in with the other emotions.
"It never occurred to me I would," I replied, smiling.
A server came and cleared our dishes, telling us our dessert would be her momentarily.

In an attempt at keeping anymore lewd thoughts from my mind for now, I looked away, and cleared my throat as I gazed at the crowd. Yann’s voice rose, and he asked, “Why do you need all your energy, Princess Rae?”
My hand went to my mouth in an attempt to cover my growing desire to laugh, and I looked at her with a growing smile.

"For keeping an eye on your father and making sure he stays out of trouble," I told Yann without missing a beat. I dared not look at Sieg though or I would burst out laughing.
