It had been awhile since someone had shown such simple affection to me and even as I flushed a bit I carefully hugged him back, glad that he seemed so much more light-hearted than he had been when he'd walked in. It was true enough that I was now just an employer but I felt as though it might also be the tenuous beginning of a good frienship, or so I hoped. I may have been wealthy and powerful by the standards of those who looked in on my life but I actually had very few real friends.
"Yes, I think that's a good idea," I told him after he'd stepped back and phrased his question, the light of enthusiasm still shining in his eyes and probably reflected in mine. "If you're hungry there's always someone in the kitchen and the pantry is always open. There's some wine and mead as well, and anything else you'll need the other servants can show you. If you have any questions you can always come ask me. I think- it would be nice to talk sometimes."

I nodded emphatically. "It would. " I smiled before turning to gather my mail pouch and sign that I had placed on the floor. "Thank you again, for everything. I will be back soon."

His response cheered me considerably and I smiled slightly in reply. It had been some time since I'd had anything put me in such a good mood and I was sure once I read the letters from Father and Laurel it would only reach even higher. No, it wasn't the same as having Fydor nearby or speaking with him but it was still a comfortable feeling.
"Good luck and I'm sure everything will be ready for you by the time you come back. Would you like me to show you out?" I asked politely as he gathered his things and picking up the letters he'd just brought. I'd probably end up reading them curled up in one of the window seats around the house or outside in the garden where it was more sedate, but I could always show Eric to the door on the way.

I shook my head lightly. "That's alright. I'll find my way." I smiled once more, truly happy. "I will return soon." With that and a bow I turned and left.
