“I’m sorry,” I said, squeezing her hand softly. “It’s hard when you miss someone you care about.”

I smiled softly. He understood. "Thank you, and yes. It is." I smiled wider, thinking on how much mother would love to meet Darien, and blushed at the thought. I was the one who had promised myself never to fall in love like she had. Never. "I think I may ask the Dowayne for leave to visit her soon."

“Where is she right now, if you don’t mind me asking?” the crowd had begun to truly thin, we would be able to make our way out soon.

I smiled warmly. "I don't mind at all. Mama, she is back at our home in Namarre. She's a seamstress," I added. "Half of these marvellous creations I wear are her doing. Including this one," I said as my hands smoothed my skirts over my thighs.

“She’s very talented,” I said, smiling. “You look beautiful.”

I ducked my head, feeling my cheeks heat in a blush, and looked up at him through my lashes. "Thank you Darien," I said with a smile, "on both accounts." I hadn't noticed until then that we seemed to be rather alone in the theatre, and I couldn't help that my thoughts raced ahead of me, as they always did when I was around him, and my heart sped up to race right along with them.
"Hmm," I murmured, "seems like we've outwaited the crowd."

I was surprised a little by her blush. I’d not thought Sefirah the type to blush easily. I smiled at it though, finding it sweet.
“That we have. Shall we head out and find our meal?” I stood and offered her my hand.

I took the hand that he offered me with a smile and stood. "Yes," I said laughing, "so long as we don't actually have to catch it ourselves," I teased.

“I agree,” I said, smiling as I wrapped her arm through mine. “I’m not dressed for a hunt.”

I laughed. "No but you certainly are dressed to kill," I said with a wink as he wrapped his arm around mine and I moved into step with him. "Although I am not entirely sure fine young ladies make appetizing fair."

Chuckling, I shook my head a little as we turned up the aisle and headed for the doors. “There you go being charming again.”

I giggled rather girlishly as we turned up the aisle. "Ah well, I cannot help it. You drive me to such displays," I said with a chuckle. "But I can try really really hard to stop, if you wish," I teased with a sidelong glance and an upturned smile.

“Is it only me that brings out this side of you?” I asked with a playful smile. “Or are you like this with all the boys?”

"Oh," I said with a flirtatious grin and the raising of both of my brows, "I am like this with all the boys. But only you bring it out so truthfully." Twas the truth, even if I was being playful. There was something about him that made me just... want to please him.

I laughed softly, musically then looked into his eyes. "Truth," I murmured with a soft smile. "Definitely truth."

I laughed. "Thank you," I said, giving him a knowing glance, remembering the last time I had seen him and the tension that had been between us. The many times I had thanked him that day, the increase of that number hindered and stopped by the circumstances of teh day. "Very much," I added as I walked through and out into the night air. Twas not cold, just a bit on the cooler side. "If I recall it is not very far from here," I murmured, turning towards him.

"Mmmhmm," I said softly, "I walked here from Mont Nuit, afterall," I said with a smile. "Tis not yet cold enough, I think at least for me, that I can't enjoy the summer evening. The Dowayne doesn't particularly like me leaving without it. But it is tolerated. At least this time it wasn't a random jaunt in Night's Doorstep," I said with a chuckle, taking his arm and coming into step beside him.

“And you go out on unauthorized random jaunts to Night’s Doorstep often?” I asked with a grin.

"Shhh," I said with a cat-like grin, "lest anyone hear you." Then I laughed softly. "Not often, no, but it does break up the monotony. Plus it gives me scenes to remember to pain for the next project. A bar brawl, a cock fight, things that aren't just portraits of wealthy men and their tiny pups." I said with a soft smile. Most people didn't know that about me. They jsut figured I was looking for trouble. "Plus the danger appeals to my Kusheline side."

“Do you not get into trouble with your House?” I asked. I knew most Houses kept a fairly tight rein on their adepts, at least knowing where they were going. There was a huge investment in the adepts and the houses were loathe to lose that.

"I do... sometimes. I have been followed a number of times, no matter how well I sneak out, but the Dowayne also knows that I do bring in some regular patrons. Plus, she understands my creative process and would be loathe to see Eglantine try to snatch me up. So yes, once in a while I do get in a great deal of trouble, especially if it leaks to other adepts. Though generally I just get followed, or I'm terribly careful. I don't do it rather often. But once in a while, I get the feeling in my skin, like pinpricks, and I know its either time for a trip to Mont Nuit and another painting or a limning," I explained.

I knew it was too late for Eglantine to snatch her up as she put it. Unless a patron bought her marque she was going to stay at Jasmine until she was free.
“I can understand that need. The itch to get out and find new inspiration,” I said, nodding.

"Exactly," I said with excitement, my eyes no doubt lighting up with the same. "I like to catch and portray the life that not everyone sees. The rare flower that blooms under the frost of winter, a poor widow being graced with a dance from a kind lord in a less than reputable venue," I realised I was rambling and ducked my head a moment. "Anyways, enough of my rambling on and on about my silly adventures." I brought my gaze back to meet his. "How about you? Have you done anything... well I wouldn't say crazy but maybe... awe inspiring... in the name of art?"

"My sentiments exactly," I said with a laugh and a rather exaggerated sigh. "It is nice to speak so with someone. Not many people, especially in the Night Court, seem to understand my enthusiasm. But art... is as much a part of me as, well, the very skin holding everything in place," I said witha soft chuckle.

"I have tried though... well.." I said stammering. "well, they don't really like me, those I've tried speaking with. Some do, but especially the girls," I said shaking my head. "I am not sure why. I am not encroaching on anyone's territory or patronage." I laughed softly. "I suppose you could say that I don't make friends terribly easy. Plus I tend to be a little... competitive at times... not terribly mind you, especially not in Jasmine House," I giggled softly. "How about you? Do you have many friends in Eglantine?"
