"Certainly. Tact, charm, intelligence..." I laughed lightly. "...the drive to figure out what makes people do what they do. Working through the falsehoods to find out what it is a person truly wants as opposed to what they're feeding you to simply pad themselves. in comfort."

"But what of the ability to turn that piercing gaze on yourself?" I speculated interestedly. "Is that a skill you possess, my lord? One learns the world first by learning of themselves within it and their limits."

"In a lesser degree, yes. I know what I want and what I need are two different things..." I smiled and closed my eyes to draw in a deep breath. "...Most of the time." I allowed my smile to turn into a grin, canines flashing briefly before settling my lips back over them. Just the merest of glimpses, hints. "Of course not knowing one's every boundary is worth the adventure as well.

My smile widened at his flash of teeth- a teasing dare- and I glanced up through my lashes in reply while repeating the gesture to him. "The only difference between wants and needs is that to need, one must need to have been without something for some time," I replied playfully. "Every want is a need- it's simply easier to take care of while it's still a want."

I chuckled inwardly, not wanting her to think I laughed at her. "You have a sharp mind to go with your beauty, which I admittedly expected. There are some needs that are beyond wants, though. How would you explain those? Our need for food and water. Sleep. Even if we did not want those things, they are still needs." I lifted a fine fingered hand to face and lightly ran my index finger over my left brow.

"You are most kind, my lord," I replied with a smile and nod. "I find you quite clever as well, though we disagree. Thirst and hunger may be a need, but are they not most easily addressed the moment they are felt, rather than waiting until it consumes all of your thoughts? Though needs are far more sweeter- as are the things that satisfy them."

I chuckled softly. "I cannot argue with such flawless logic." I stood slowly and looked at the now empty playhouse. "Have you had the pleasure of eating yet this evening?"

"Not yet- are you asking me to dinner?" I asked with a sweetly playful smile as I rose as well, straightening my skirts around me with a subtle motion.

"I would be, at that." I replied with a courteous smile as I motioned for her to make her way to the aisle ahead of me. "However, it will be up to you whether you accept the offer." I smiled a smile out of the corner of my mouth. Calculating yet youthful.

"How could I refuse?" I asked with a raised brow, teasing him slightly with the way I walked and drawing my hair over one side of my neck to show the delicate arch of it. "Did you have somewhere in mind, or is this an exercise in playing by ear?"

Shaking my head with a wry smile I responded to the question more than the display. "Actually, I was hoping you would have someplace in mind, as I have been out of the Cty for sometime. Needless to say, I don't know where the best places are anymore." I reached for the cane that had been leaning next to my chair and followed her into the aisle, offering my arm.

At the cane I smiled inwardly- oh, he did seem to like his courtly shows, and I was one to appreciate the effort that one put into appearances, even if I also believed in the appropriate time to discard them. Also, I couldn't deny being miffed at his lack of reaction to my acknowledged beauty, for I knew I was a lovely and pampered creature and enjoyed the effect it had on people. "That, my lord, would depend on your tastes, which I know little of as yet," I replied demurely, taking his arm.

I chuckled and tucked the cane up under my arm opposite her. I wondered if she was angry that I had opted to not react to her display and then smiled. On second thought, she was Shahrizai, I have no doubt she was upset. "My tastes? They are simple. Not easy, but simple. Again I brushed the index finger of one hand over my eyebrow and looked at her. "Perhaps we may learn more over dinner?"

"That doesn't help much in knowing your tastes in which place to choose for dinner," I replied sweetly. "Or perhaps I should simply follow my own tastes and let that decide my destination? I must warn you though- my tastes are stronger than most people care for."

I flashed my teeth at her again. "My tastes are strong as well, and I would be interested to see where you choose. Where your...tastes...lead us. I am, as they say, open for a great many things."

"It's always lovely to have an open mind," I replied, taking a moment to look at him with my piercing Shahrizai gaze- pride, perhaps a little too much, but also the desire to please which spoke of perhaps a little insecurity. Fair enough, and there was an interesting depth there, as well as a gleam of respectability. "Then what of The Laughing Parrot? There is at least always something to sea and hear, and the food is moderately fair."

"Moderately fair? I thought you had strong tastes my dear. " I retorted lightly. I then bowed slightly. "I will, however, bow to your wishes. I have told we that we will eat where you wish. No need to ask me my opinion any longer. You decide and we'll eat." I looked her in the eyes and my smile returned, a slight curve of the lips, nothing more. "As for open minds...well, I have found that they take one quite the distance. The problem, however, is that sooner or later somebody is going to come along and try to put something in it."

"Simply because someone tries doesn't mean they must succeed," I replied with a wink, gently leading him toward the door. "And my tastes for food are not my strongest, of course- and not nearly so strong as that for music and presentation.

I nodde agreement. "Precisely. Very few people have put something into my head that I did not want there." I walked by her side as we made our way to the door, intently listening to her words while contemplating my next ones. "I do not know how you would keep such an astounding figure if you were to have a taste for food as strong as that of your musical ones, as I have been privy to thus far, anyhow. I can only surmise that your musical tastes are stronger yet, and I hope to find out personally."

"My taste for food is the weakest of all, I must confess," I told him with sly grin and a light laugh. "But music and one other are the ruling forces within me, at least at this point in my life."

I filed the knowledge almost subconciously. "One other? I suppose I will have to wait until that situation arises then?" The question was phrased honestly, but I was almost entirely certain that I knew what it was she was referring to.

"Perhaps," I demurred with a wider smile as I led him out the open door of the playhouse.
