Weeks I had spent, couped up in my home, the one I had once shared with Elliot; a home that had used to be mine, literally. Autumn was quickly drawing to a close and most of the gossip on the streets were about Midwinter; as usual during this time of year. I was afraid of what the winter would bring, mostly because I was sure it was more boredom.
So I decided to get out; I took the small amount of money that I was alotted monthy from my family's funds, and took a carriage into the city to find myself a new gown or two. Arriving in the Temple District, I had my driver settled himself and the carriage at a local tavern and told him to stay put till I came to find him. With that I began to wander around, looking at the shoppes to find some where of interest to spend my time.

I was returning from a house errand and feeling a bit like mucking around. So I took a detour into the Temple District, watching the passerby and admiring the wares in the window.

As I walked, something lavender colour caught my eye and I stopped, turing to look in the window at the jeweled flower comb that lay prefectly presented in a silver box. I smiled gently, looking at it as I contemplated whether or not I wanted to go in and look at it.

I stopped in front of the same window as a pretty noblewoman. The window held jeweled hair combs in a wide array of colors. "If it's not too presumptuous, my lady," I said, pointing to the lavender one, "that one suits your color very well."

I quirked a brow; the presence of some one at my side had been obvious but as it often happens in the city, I paid no mind until he spoke. I turned to look at him then, brow still quirked as I crossed my arms delicately against my torso and then ran my eyes up and down the length of him in an appraising sort of fashion. "Is that so?" I replied before turning to look at the comb I had been looking at myself. "You must be an expert in these sort of things then." I added, my tone soft but with my usual bitting lilt.

I chuckled. "I have a keen eye, my lady, made keener by experience," I replied. I turned my body towards her and bowed slightly. "Conrad, Second of Dahlia House, my lady."

I turned with a snorted laugh, looking back to the window. "Dahlia," I echoed. "How pedestrian."

Charming, utterly delightful, I noted wryly. "I'm sorry, my lady," I said, choosing to ignore her bitterness, "but I'm afraid I must have misheard you. What was your name again?" She could try and lay me low all she liked, two could play that game.

"I never said it," I replied, not looking at him still. "Darling Dahlia." I chuckled low to myself.

"Are you amused by something, my lady?" I asked, with a touch of facetiousness. She was enjoying trying to hurt me. This was fun for her. But I doubted she'd say so.

"Nothing you need to worry your pretty little head about." I replied and turned to look at him with a pleasent smile before looking forward again.

I decided then it would be best to move on, and not stay around for this woman to belittle me any further. "I see," I said a bit stiffly. "It seems you would prefer to be left alone, so I shall not trouble you any further. Good day, my lady." Turning, I began to continue on my way down the street.

I chuckled softly as I watched him wander off. "And you little adept." I called off as he walked away. "That is why you should never bite off more then you can chew." I murmured to myself.
